PESHAWAR – The Peshawar High Court (PHC) in Pakistan has granted protective bail to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi until November 18, providing temporary legal relief in multiple pending cases.
Afridi had approached the court to avoid arrest amid ongoing investigations. His legal counsel argued that the cases were politically motivated and sought time to prepare a defense. The court, after hearing the arguments, approved the protective bail and instructed law enforcement agencies not to arrest him during this period.
The PHC also directed the chief minister to fully cooperate with the investigating authorities and to appear before the relevant bodies as required.
The decision marks a significant development in the province’s political landscape, where several high-profile figures are currently facing legal scrutiny.
