NEW YORK – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, has arrived in New York to participate in a series of high-level meetings under Pakistan’s presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of July.
Dar’s visit, which extends through July 28, includes presiding over several key sessions at the UN headquarters, as well as engaging in bilateral and multilateral discussions with global counterparts. Among the major events is an international conference focused on the Palestinian issue, co-organised by Saudi Arabia and France, which seeks to promote a peaceful resolution and advance efforts toward a two-state solution.
The Foreign Minister will also chair a Security Council debate on peaceful dispute resolution and multilateral cooperation, as well as lead a session addressing the Middle East conflict, including the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Another key engagement will be a high-level briefing on enhancing collaboration between the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
In addition to his UN engagements, Dar is scheduled to travel to Washington for meetings with senior US officials, including a planned session with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This would mark the highest-level bilateral interaction between Pakistan and the United States since 2016.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic commitment to multilateralism and its continued advocacy for a just resolution to the Palestinian crisis.
