WASHINGTON, D.C. — Pakistan’s Minister of State for Crypto, Bilal Bin Saqib, met with Bo Hines, a senior Trump administration official overseeing U.S. digital asset policy, to explore strategic collaboration on cryptocurrency, blockchain, and decentralised technologies.
The high-level meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the U.S. and Pakistan in the field of digital assets, discussing regulatory alignment, innovation ecosystems, and economic inclusion powered by blockchain. Both parties also exchanged views on Bitcoin integration and the future of decentralised infrastructure.
Bo Hines, appointed by former President Donald Trump in January 2025, leads U.S. policy on digital innovation and emerging financial technologies.
Saqib was named Pakistan’s Special Assistant on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency in May 2025 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the rank of minister of state. His mandate includes developing a FATF-compliant regulatory framework, launching Bitcoin mining projects, and integrating blockchain into governance, financial systems, and land records.
The meeting follows Pakistan’s landmark unveiling of its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR) at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas—making it the first Asian nation to incorporate Bitcoin into its sovereign asset strategy.
The Pakistani minister also met with the White House Counsel’s Office during his U.S. visit to further discuss legal frameworks around digital asset innovation.
Pakistan’s broader crypto strategy includes allocating 2 gigawatts of power for Bitcoin mining and AI-driven data zones, part of its larger push for digital economic transformation.
Saqib, a Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ honoree and co-founder of Tayaba—a social enterprise tackling Pakistan’s water crisis—was awarded an MBE in 2023 for his services to the UK’s National Health Service.
