ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN – In a significant diplomatic development, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with the newly appointed US Chargé d’Affaires Elizabeth Horst to strengthen bilateral economic ties and explore new avenues for trade.
During the meeting at the Finance Division, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration. The United States, being Pakistan’s largest trading partner, expressed interest in expanding cooperation in non-traditional sectors including IT, mining, agriculture, and digital finance.
Minister Aurangzeb highlighted Pakistan’s improved credit ratings, boosted investor confidence, and upcoming plans to issue a Panda bond to access Chinese capital markets. He also discussed the country’s reform agenda focused on tax policy, energy restructuring, and broader financial access.
Horst appreciated the government’s steps toward economic stability and emphasized the US’s support for Pakistan’s long-term economic growth. The discussion also revisited recent high-level trade talks held in Washington, where Aurangzeb met US officials to push for a reciprocal tariff agreement, expected to conclude soon.
The engagement reflects renewed momentum in Pakistan-US relations, with both nations eyeing strategic cooperation beyond traditional sectors.
