PAKISTAN – Pakistan has renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, urging world powers to prioritize diplomacy over continued bloodshed.
At a recent United Nations Security Council session, Deputy Permanent Representative Usman Jadoon warned that “peace in Ukraine is long overdue,” cautioning that global voices calling for dialogue must not be silenced by the “continued drums of war.”
Islamabad reaffirmed its neutral stance and support for a peaceful resolution grounded in the UN Charter, international law, and mutual security. Pakistan welcomed recent measures aimed at protecting energy infrastructure and maritime routes but stressed the need for a comprehensive political solution.
The Foreign Office emphasized that protecting civilian lives and infrastructure must remain a global priority, and that justice will only be possible through sustained diplomacy—not military escalation.
