RAWALPINDI, PAKISTAN: The Pakistan cricket team is set to make a heartfelt statement both on and off the field as they step out in pink kits for the first T20I against South Africa on October 28 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, marking their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The initiative, launched by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in collaboration with Pink Ribbon Pakistan, aims to use the power of cricket to raise awareness about one of the most prevalent health challenges affecting women in the country. Players, officials, and commentators will all join the cause by wearing pink ribbons and sharing awareness messages throughout the match broadcast.
The PCB announced that the stumps will also feature a pink design, turning the stadium into a vivid symbol of solidarity and hope. “We take immense pride in using cricket’s influence to promote causes that truly matter,” said PCB COO Sumair Ahmed Syed, adding that the effort is meant to highlight the importance of early detection and regular screening.
Pink Ribbon CEO Umar Aftab expressed appreciation for the PCB’s continued support, emphasizing that such campaigns not only raise awareness but also help save lives through timely diagnosis and treatment.
The first T20I will thus carry deeper meaning — transforming Rawalpindi’s cricket ground into a beacon of compassion, unity, and strength against a disease that affects one in nine women across Pakistan.
