ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has urged a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)-led initiative to address longstanding disputes in South Asia, emphasizing the importance of multilateral dialogue over unilateral measures.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during the SCO summit in Tianjin, called for a structured dialogue to address all outstanding regional issues. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to diplomacy and peaceful relations with its neighbors, highlighting the SCO’s potential role in facilitating meaningful discussions.
The summit also issued a joint declaration condemning terrorism, reaffirming the member states’ shared commitment to combating extremism and maintaining regional peace. Pakistan’s push for an SCO-led process reflects its belief that cooperation and multilateral engagement are crucial for sustainable stability in South Asia.
