ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Navy has successfully launched its third Hangor-class submarine in China, marking a major milestone in the modernization of its naval fleet. The submarine, part of a strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China, is designed to strengthen Pakistan’s maritime defense capabilities in the region.
The Hangor-class submarines are equipped with advanced stealth technology, modern weapon systems, and enhanced endurance to operate in diverse maritime environments. The program includes a total of eight submarines, with four being built in China and four in Pakistan under a technology transfer agreement.
According to officials, this induction will significantly enhance the Pakistan Navy’s ability to safeguard the country’s maritime interests, counter emerging security threats, and maintain strategic balance in the Indian Ocean region.
The launching ceremony was attended by senior naval officials from both Pakistan and China, who reaffirmed the strong defense cooperation between the two nations.
