RAWALPINDI – Pakistan and Libya have agreed to strengthen collaboration in defence production and technical expertise during a high-level military meeting in Rawalpindi.
The agreement was reached during talks between Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, and Libyan Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, at the General Headquarters on Thursday.
Both sides discussed regional security dynamics and emphasised the need for mutual cooperation to counter evolving security challenges. The talks also focused on expanding joint efforts in defence manufacturing, knowledge-sharing, and capacity building within the military sectors of both countries.
General Munir expressed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Libya in defence training and development, while Lt Gen Haftar acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to global peacekeeping and defence professionalism.
The Libyan military chief was received with a formal guard of honour and laid a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honour fallen soldiers, reflecting the importance of bilateral military relations.
This renewed commitment signals a step forward in enhancing strategic defence cooperation between the two nations.
