ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN – Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to significantly enhance their bilateral trade volume, setting a new target of $100 million, as both countries eye deeper economic integration and regional connectivity.
The commitment was reaffirmed during the 5th Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) meeting held in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and Kyrgyz Economy Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev co-chaired the session, highlighting areas of cooperation including energy, commerce, health, tourism, agriculture, and education.
A key focus was on unlocking transit trade potential through Pakistan’s seaports and regional infrastructure projects like CASA-1000 and the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway link. The reactivation of the Joint Business Council and implementation of the Transit Trade Agreement also featured prominently in discussions.
The two sides pledged to facilitate the business community through visa easing and economic forums, while reiterating the strategic importance of people-to-people ties and regional trade corridors.
