ISLAMABAD: Pakistan have advanced to the semifinals of the AVC Nations Volleyball Cup 2024 following a hard-fought 3-1 victory against Indonesia in the quarterfinals held in Manama, Bahrain.
Indonesia began the match strongly, claiming the first set 25-20. However, Pakistan bounced back with renewed energy and tactical discipline to take the next three sets 25-21, 25-20, and 25-17, securing their place among the final four teams of the tournament.
Captain Murad Jehan led from the front with an impactful performance, while teammates Usman Faryad and Fahad Raza also contributed significantly in both attack and defense. Despite Indonesia’s Rivan Nurmulki scoring a match-high 22 points, Pakistan maintained control in the final three sets to seal the win.
Upcoming Semifinal Clash
Pakistan will now face Qatar in the semifinal match scheduled for Monday at 7:00 PM local time. Qatar advanced to the semifinals after defeating Vietnam in their respective quarterfinal. In the other semifinal, hosts Bahrain will take on South Korea.

Chairman of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF), Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, commended the team’s performance, stating, “This victory is a reflection of the team’s growing confidence and competitive maturity. We are proud of the way our players have represented the nation.”
Pakistan’s progression to the semifinals comes on the back of an impressive run in the previous year’s Asian Challenge Cup, where they finished as runners-up. The team now eyes a place in the final and hopes to secure a major title on the Asian volleyball stage.
