MANAMA – Pakistan and Bahrain have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of counter-terrorism, anti-human trafficking, and anti-narcotics operations, during an official visit by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to the Gulf nation.
Minister Naqvi, who was on a one-day visit to Bahrain on July 10, held a high-level meeting with Bahraini Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. Both sides reiterated their commitment to bolstering security ties and improving coordination on critical transnational threats.
Guard of Honour and High-Level Talks
Upon arrival, Minister Naqvi received a warm welcome, including a guard of honour at Bahrain International Airport and at the Ministry of Interior. Discussions focused on enhancing the role of the Pakistan–Bahrain Joint Security Committee to facilitate intelligence sharing and collaborative action.
Shared Security Objectives
The two ministers acknowledged the growing need for joint efforts to curb drug smuggling and human trafficking, calling it “the need of the hour.” Bahrain’s interior minister praised Pakistan’s role in regional stability and reaffirmed Manama’s trust in Islamabad’s partnership.
Strengthening Historical Ties
The visit highlighted the strong historical and diplomatic relations between the two countries. Both sides expressed interest in further developing ties in law enforcement, defense, and economic cooperation.
Way Forward
Minister Naqvi invited his Bahraini counterpart to visit Pakistan, as both nations agreed to activate and empower their Joint Security Committee to meet shared security challenges more effectively.
