ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Four young minds from Pakistan have made the nation proud by securing bronze medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025, held in Bolivia. This marks the first time Pakistan has earned medals for every team member at the prestigious global tech competition.
The winning team – Muhammad Aneeq, Ghulam Junaid, Muhammad Saram, and Ahmed Imran Malik – competed against participants from 86 countries and helped Pakistan achieve a remarkable 32nd position, surpassing major nations like Germany, France, and Italy.
This success comes as a result of the STEM Careers Programme, jointly run by the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The selection process involved over 500 students from across Pakistan, who competed in multiple rigorous rounds before the final four were chosen.
With this performance, Pakistan has improved significantly from last year’s ranking of 46th place, where the country had secured only two bronze medals.
Officials from FBISE and the Ministry of Education applauded the achievement, calling it a testament to the growing strength of Pakistan’s STEM talent.
