ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN: In a stern warning to Kabul, the Pakistan Army has declared that its demand to halt cross-border terrorism from Afghan territory is “non-negotiable,” reinforcing Islamabad’s growing frustration over repeated militant attacks originating from across the border.
Speaking at a press conference, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan’s stance remains clear and uncompromising — Afghan soil must not be used against Pakistan. He stated that Pakistan’s upcoming talks with Afghan representatives in Istanbul will focus solely on ensuring verifiable actions against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other groups operating from Afghan territory.
The military spokesperson disclosed that security operations have intensified, leading to the elimination of over 200 Afghan militants and more than 100 TTP operatives in recent months. He added that a majority of those neutralized were Afghan nationals, underlining the cross-border nature of terrorism that continues to destabilize Pakistan’s western frontier.
Gen Chaudhry further accused the Taliban administration of sheltering and enabling the TTP by offering safe zones in Afghan territory, warning that Pakistan’s patience is wearing thin. Despite Islamabad’s willingness to continue diplomatic engagement, the army made it clear that national security and sovereignty cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
The renewed hardline stance signals Pakistan’s intent to pursue both diplomatic and defensive measures to curb cross-border militancy if Kabul fails to act decisively.
