ISLAMABAD/ABU DHABI – Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) that grants visa-free entry to citizens of both countries, a move set to boost business, tourism, and personal travel.
Under the agreement, Pakistani and Emirati passport holders will be able to enter each other’s countries without prior visas, streamlining travel for entrepreneurs, families, tourists, and business professionals. Officials say the pact aims to strengthen economic ties and foster deeper cultural connections.
The MoU includes provisions for:
- Extended stays: Visa-free travel of up to 90 days, with options to request extensions
- Business mobility: Facilitating investment visits, trade missions, and professional conferences
- Tourist exchange: Encouraging holiday travel between Pakistan’s historical destinations and the UAE’s modern tourism centres
Pakistan’s Foreign Office has welcomed the agreement as a milestone in bilateral relations. Government spokespersons highlighted its importance for accelerating trade, investment, remittances, and tourism-related activity.
UAE business leaders and travel agencies are also optimistic, noting that ease of travel will lower costs and reduce administrative challenges—particularly benefiting frequent flyers like investors, healthcare seekers, and students.
Analysts view the exemption deal as timely, as both nations seek to diversify economic partnerships and deepen regional cooperation. The agreement is expected to become effective within the next month, following completion of required legal and procedural formalities.
