ISLAMABAD – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir on Thursday to discuss regional security, counter-terrorism, and future cooperation. The meeting underscored the long-standing strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
During the discussions, Wang Yi reiterated China’s firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, security, and development. He praised Pakistan’s role in ensuring regional stability and emphasized Beijing’s commitment to strengthening collaboration in defense and counter-terrorism.
General Munir assured Pakistan’s full commitment to safeguarding Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions in the country, particularly those linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He highlighted Pakistan’s determination to work closely with China in combating terrorism and advancing shared development goals.
The engagement formed part of the sixth Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue, where both nations reviewed ongoing cooperation and agreed to expand collaboration under CPEC’s next phase, focusing on connectivity, infrastructure, and economic growth.
This visit reaffirmed the deep trust between the two countries and their resolve to continue supporting each other on global and regional platforms.
