BUDAPEST, Hungary – McLaren’s Lando Norris claimed a thrilling victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, edging past teammate Oscar Piastri in a nail-biting finish that saw just 0.6 seconds between the two. The result marks McLaren’s seventh 1-2 finish this season, further intensifying the championship fight.
Norris, who had dropped to fifth early on, made a bold decision to go for a one-stop strategy, completing 39 laps on hard tyres. Meanwhile, Piastri closed a 12-second gap after a second pit stop but narrowly missed overtaking on the final lap.
George Russell secured third for Mercedes, while pole-sitter Charles Leclerc fell to fourth after a time penalty.
The win trims Piastri’s lead in the drivers’ standings to just nine points, adding fuel to an already heated title race.
