Islamabad – Pakistan on Wednesday observed the 149th birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with renewed calls to uphold the founding father’s vision, ideals and guiding principles that laid the foundation of the country.
Special ceremonies, prayer gatherings and commemorative events were held across the country to honour the life and legacy of the Quaid. Floral wreaths were laid at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi, where a guard-changing ceremony was also conducted, while similar tributes took place in provincial capitals and major cities.
In messages issued on the occasion, political leaders and state officials emphasised that Quaid-i-Azam’s principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline remain the cornerstone for national progress and stability. They stressed that his vision of a democratic, constitutional and inclusive Pakistan offers clear guidance for overcoming present-day political, economic and social challenges.
Speakers recalled that Muhammad Ali Jinnah firmly believed in the rule of law, good governance, merit and social justice, and envisioned a state where citizens of all religions and backgrounds would enjoy equal rights and dignity. His unwavering commitment to minority rights and constitutional supremacy was described as a defining feature of Pakistan’s ideological identity.
Educational institutions marked the day with seminars, debates and special programmes aimed at familiarising students with the Quaid’s leadership, struggle and sacrifices. Participants were urged to study his speeches and actions to better understand the responsibilities of citizenship and nation-building.
The birth anniversary served as a moment of reflection, reminding the nation that lasting progress can only be achieved by translating Quaid-i-Azam’s ideals into action, strengthening institutions, promoting national unity and fostering social harmony.
