RABAT – Morocco is on the verge of making history as the first African nation to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following an unbeaten run in the CAF qualifiers.
The Atlas Lions, who reached the semi-finals in Qatar 2022, have carried their momentum into the qualifiers with consistent victories. A 2-0 win over Tanzania and a 6-0 thrashing of Congo showcased their dominance, leaving them firmly at the top of Group E.
Under CAF’s new format, the nine group winners will qualify directly for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Morocco’s strong performances now place them just one step away from sealing their place on the world stage once again.
