KARACHI — The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) has confirmed that more than 50 small earthquakes have been recorded in Karachi this month, leaving many residents on edge.
Seismologists explained that most of these tremors ranged between magnitudes of 1.5 and 3.8 and occurred at relatively shallow depths. According to experts, activity along the Landhi Fault Line is behind the sudden surge.
Scientists noted that the city lies close to a complex network of geological faults, making minor seismic activity a common occurrence. Recent movements may simply be a natural release of built-up tectonic pressure.
Officials assured that these small shocks do not necessarily signal a larger earthquake. They advised citizens to remain informed, follow safety guidelines, and avoid panicking.
The NSMC and relevant agencies will continue to monitor seismic activity closely as they study the situation and update the public.
