LAHORE, Pakistan – Former Punjab governor and seasoned political figure Mian Muhammad Azhar passed away on Monday at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in Punjab’s political and civic landscape.
Azhar served as the 24th Governor of Punjab from 1990 to 1993 and was also elected Mayor of Lahore, before going on to become the founding president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q). In 2011, he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), aligning himself with a new wave of political change.
