BARCELONA – Marcus Rashford has arrived in Barcelona to finalize a season-long loan transfer from Manchester United, with an option for a permanent move. The 27-year-old England international landed in Catalonia on Sunday evening, having received permission from United to complete the necessary formalities.
The loan agreement includes Barcelona covering 100% of Rashford’s adjusted salary, following the player’s agreement to a 25% pay cut. The option to make the move permanent next summer is reportedly set at €30 million. Rashford had previously expressed his desire for a new challenge after being sidelined by United manager Ruben Amorim. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he made 17 appearances, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
Rashford is expected to undergo a medical examination early this week and, if all goes well, will join Barcelona’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, which begins on Thursday. His arrival provides Barcelona with added depth in their attacking options, complementing players like Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and the emerging talent Lamine Yamal.
