ISLAMABAD – In a significant act of medical solidarity, the Government of Egypt has donated a consignment of hepatitis C medicines to Pakistan as part of the Prime Minister’s Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C.
The hand-over ceremony, organised by Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services, was attended by Egypt’s Deputy Chief of Mission and a senior representative from the World Health Organization in Pakistan. During his address, Pakistan’s Health Minister praised Egypt’s success in eradicating the disease and said that the donation would bolster the country’s efforts to reach its elimination targets.
Egypt’s envoys described the medicines as a practical expression of longstanding friendship and pledged that they will be distributed to vulnerable patients across Pakistan. This move marks a new chapter in bilateral health cooperation and underscores the role of regional partnerships in fighting infectious diseases.
