MANCHESTER – England have recalled all-rounder Liam Dawson to their Test squad for the fourth match against India at Old Trafford, marking his first Test appearance since 2017. The 35-year-old left-arm spinner from Hampshire replaces Shoaib Bashir, who sustained a fractured finger during the third Test at Lord’s.
Despite his injury, Bashir returned to the field to bowl and take the final wicket, contributing to England’s 22-run victory.
Dawson’s inclusion is the only change to the squad that leads the five-match series 2-1. The team includes Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, captain Ben Stokes, wicketkeeper Jamie Smith, Dawson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and Jofra Archer.
The fourth Test begins on Wednesday, July 23, at Old Trafford, with England aiming to secure their first five-match series win since 2018.
