PESHAWAR – As flash floods continue to unleash havoc across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government has released Rs800 million in emergency relief funding to district administrations, with a focused allocation of Rs500 million directed to the hardest-hit district of Buner.
This substantial financial infusion comes amid mounting pressure to support survivors and mobilise swift recovery efforts. In Buner alone, where casualties and displacement have been particularly severe, authorities have been instructed to expedite disbursement of compensation to victims’ families. Clear directives have been issued to district commissioners to ensure relief operations proceed without delay or obstruction.
The broader relief package is aimed at reinforcing local capacities in areas such as Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mansehra, and Torghar, where infrastructure damage and community disruption remain widespread. Authorities continue to coordinate closely with federal agencies, the National Disaster Management Authority, and military support units to distribute aid and manage search-and-rescue operations under emergency conditions.
As rescue teams press forward, officials emphasise that prompt delivery of aid—ranging from financial support to food, tents, and medical assistance—is essential to prevent further hardship in the affected communities. With road networks still intermittently disrupted, the relief funding also enables logistical reinforcement and infrastructure repair to restore access to isolated regions.
