KABUL – The Taliban-led Afghan government has accused Pakistan of carrying out drone strikes in the eastern provinces of Khost and Nangarhar, claiming the attacks killed three civilians and left seven others injured.
According to Afghan officials, a strike in Khost’s Spera district, bordering North Waziristan, hit the home of tribal elder Haji Naeem Khan, killing three children. In a separate incident, a drone strike in Nangarhar’s Shinwar district reportedly destroyed the home of a man named Shahsawar, injuring several members of his family.
The Afghan foreign ministry strongly condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of the country’s airspace and sovereignty. Pakistan’s ambassador in Kabul was summoned and handed a formal protest note. Officials in Kabul warned that such actions would not go unanswered.
Islamabad has so far issued no response, with both the Foreign Office and military officials declining to comment on the allegations.
This development comes amid already strained ties between the two neighbors. Pakistan has repeatedly accused Afghanistan of sheltering militants who carry out cross-border attacks, a charge Kabul has consistently denied.
