CAIRO: At least three Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded by Israeli gunfire near a US-backed aid distribution site in Gaza on Monday, according to local health officials. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which runs the site, denied any casualties occurred there.
Separately, 14 people — including six children and three women — were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a home in Jabalia, with more than 20 still trapped under the rubble.
The strikes follow a deadly Sunday incident at the same aid site in Rafah where at least 31 Palestinians were killed. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an independent investigation, saying it’s “unacceptable that Palestinians are risking their lives for food.”
The UK and other nations have urged faster aid delivery as Gaza faces a looming famine. The GHF says it has distributed nearly six million meals, but its bypassing of traditional aid channels has drawn criticism.
Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas continue to trade blame over stalled ceasefire talks. Israel has agreed to a temporary truce only if Hamas is removed from Gaza, while Hamas insists on a broader deal.
