LEBANON: Israel has carried out airstrikes on south and east Lebanon for a third day Wednesday, AFP quotes a report from Lebanese official media.
“Since 5am (2am GMT) enemy warplanes have launched strikes” on several areas of southern Lebanon, the official National News Agency said, adding that “the air aggression continued overnight” on other parts of the south, reporting unspecified casualties.
It also reported that “enemy warplanes and drones” targeted multiple locations the Baalbek area in eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley after midnight, also reporting casualties there.
On Monday, Israel launched devastating strikes that resulted in the deadliest single-day toll since the end of Lebanon’s 1975-1990 civil war.
Filippo Grandi, the UN high commissioner for refugees, has said that two of his agency UNHCR colleagues were among those killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon.
“Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon are now relentlessly claiming hundreds of civilian lives,” Grandi said in a post on X on Tuesday. “And I am very saddened to confirm that two UNHCR colleagues were also killed yesterday,” he added.
