TEHRAN – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was reportedly lightly injured during an Israeli airstrike in Syria last month, according to a report published by British newspaper The Times.
Citing unnamed intelligence sources, the report claims that Raisi was attending a high-level meeting near Damascus when the Israeli strike occurred in early June. The attack is believed to have targeted senior Iranian and allied officials.
No Word from Tehran
Iranian officials have not confirmed or denied the report, and state media has not commented on the matter. President Raisi has continued public engagements since the reported incident, with no visible signs of injury.
The report adds a new layer to the already tense relationship between Iran and Israel, particularly in Syria where Iran maintains a military presence.
Tensions Remain High
Israel has carried out numerous airstrikes in Syria aimed at curbing Iranian influence and preventing weapons transfers to Hezbollah. If Raisi was indeed present and injured in the strike, it would mark a major escalation in regional hostilities.
