ISLAMABAD – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to visit Pakistan on August 2–3, following an invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The two-day official visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and regional matters.
During the visit, President Pezeshkian will travel to Lahore to pay respects at the mausoleum of national poet Allama Iqbal before holding high-level meetings in Islamabad. He is expected to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
Key discussions will focus on boosting trade beyond the current $3 billion level, enhancing cross-border and provincial collaboration, and promoting cooperation in energy, industry, and cultural exchanges. Officials emphasized that the visit underscores the long-standing ties between the two neighboring nations and highlights a commitment to deeper regional engagement.
The visit comes at a time when both countries are looking to reset relations and prioritize diplomacy to address mutual concerns. President Pezeshkian is expected to depart Islamabad on the evening of August 3 after completing his official schedule.
