CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES: Instagram has unveiled its latest initiative, the “Rings” award, a tribute to 25 outstanding creators from across the globe who are redefining online creativity and influence.
This new program celebrates originality, risk-taking, and cultural impact—recognizing individuals who have gone beyond algorithms and trends to build meaningful digital legacies. The winners will be presented with a gold ring designed by Grace Wales Bonner, symbolizing prestige and authenticity. Alongside the physical ring, creators will receive a digital golden ring around their profile pictures and story borders, marking them as part of Instagram’s elite circle.
The selection process was overseen by a distinguished panel including Instagram head Adam Mosseri, filmmaker Spike Lee, designer Marc Jacobs, makeup artist Pat McGrath, and tech creator Marques Brownlee. Instead of follower counts or revenue, judges focused on artistic expression and cultural influence, underscoring a shift toward substance over popularity.
Though the “Rings” program carries no cash prize, it offers exclusive digital perks such as custom profile aesthetics and personalized features that reflect each creator’s unique identity. The initiative highlights Instagram’s commitment to celebrating creativity in its purest form, amid growing discussions about the pressures and commercialization of online fame.
The first batch of honorees is expected to be announced on October 16, marking what could become one of the platform’s most prestigious acknowledgments of creative excellence.
