INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers have announced that star guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss the entire 2025-26 NBA campaign after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
The injury occurred during a recent off-season workout session, and medical staff have said Haliburton will begin rehabilitation immediately under the care of the Pacers’ sports science and conditioning teams. While full recovery is expected to take 9 to 12 months, the team remains optimistic about his long-term health and future performance.
Haliburton, a two-time All-Star and one of the league’s premier playmakers, has quickly become the cornerstone of the Pacers’ rebuild. He led the team in scoring and assists during the previous season, earning comparisons to some of the NBA’s elite guards.
With Haliburton sidelined, Indiana’s front office will explore options for reinforcement before the start of the season. This may include adjustments to the roster, free-agent acquisitions, and a potential shift in playing style to compensate for the loss of the 24-year-old’s dynamic ball-handling and court vision.
Despite the setback, Haliburton has pledged to remain engaged with teammates and coaching staff during his recovery, aiming to return stronger when cleared to resume play.
