RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has accused India of doubling down on proxy warfare against Pakistan following what he termed as a clear and decisive defeat in the recent military confrontation.
Speaking at the 271st Corps Commanders’ Conference held at General Headquarters (GHQ), the army chief warned that India was attempting to destabilise Pakistan through state-sponsored militancy after failing to achieve its objectives through direct military aggression.
“The recent events are a testimony to India’s frustration,” Gen Munir said. “After suffering a strategic defeat, they have shifted gears to indirect methods by fuelling terrorist proxies inside Pakistan.”
Military Prepared to Counter Hybrid Threats
The conference reviewed the evolving regional security situation in the wake of the May skirmishes, during which Indian airstrikes resulted in civilian casualties and were met with a measured but firm response from Pakistan.
Top commanders reaffirmed the army’s commitment to national defence and eliminating Indian-backed militant networks operating in various regions, including Balochistan and border areas. The military leadership agreed that comprehensive action at all levels was necessary to counter such threats.
COAS Dismisses Indian Claims of Chinese Support
General Munir also categorically rejected Indian allegations regarding Chinese support to Pakistan during the military exchanges, labelling them as “baseless and diversionary tactics” aimed at misleading the international community.
Commitment to Regional Stability
The forum concluded with a strong message of unity and resolve, stating that Pakistan’s armed forces remain vigilant and fully capable of defending the country against both conventional and unconventional threats.
“The armed forces are well-prepared to thwart any hostile narrative or hybrid tactics aimed at undermining national security,” the ISPR stated following the meeting.
