TOKYO – Godzilla, the legendary King of Monsters, has turned 70 — and fans around the world are celebrating the cinematic icon with full force.
From Tokyo’s buzzing Hibiya Godzilla Square, where over 380,000 fans gathered for the Godzilla Festival 2024, to the fan-packed halls of Comic-Con 2025 in San Diego, the towering lizard’s milestone is being marked with themed exhibits, merchandise, food, and even puppet shows.
The Tokyo event featured immersive experiences, live performances, and limited-edition sweets like the “Godzilla Choux” and “Eclair Dark Chocolat” by Monteur bakery, styled after the monster’s famed silhouette. Meanwhile, Comic-Con hosted panels with Godzilla creators, authors, and historians celebrating the monster’s journey from Japan’s post-war trauma symbol to global pop culture icon.
Also drawing attention was the “Godzilla the Art Exhibition” at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo, showcasing sculptures, concept art, and reinterpretations by contemporary artists inspired by seven decades of Godzilla’s dominance in film and culture.
With festivities spanning continents, Godzilla remains a towering force — not just in cinema, but in the hearts of fans across generations.
