GAZA CITY, PALESTINE – In a dramatic shift, Israel has announced a daily “tactical pause” in military operations across parts of Gaza to allow desperately needed humanitarian aid, as starvation and malnutrition continue to claim lives.
The pause, in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, applies to areas like Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and parts of Gaza City, where hunger has reached catastrophic levels. The move is aimed at enabling the safe passage of relief convoys, and follows mounting pressure from international organisations amid reports of children dying from starvation.
Despite this decision, rights groups and aid agencies remain skeptical, calling the gesture “too little, too late,” as Gaza’s humanitarian crisis spirals out of control. Over 127 deaths, including 85 children, have reportedly been linked to hunger in recent weeks.
Israel maintains that the pause is part of its effort to “discredit Hamas propaganda” and denies allegations of using starvation as a weapon of war.
Meanwhile, UN agencies and global donors continue to call for a full ceasefire and unrestricted aid access to all affected areas.
