ISLAMABAD – Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb departed for Seville, Spain, on Monday to represent Pakistan at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, scheduled to take place from July 1 to July 3.
The high-level international forum will bring together global leaders, policymakers, and development partners to explore strategies for mobilising financial resources in support of sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially for developing countries.
During the three-day conference, Minister Aurangzeb will:
- Co-chair a roundtable discussion on “Leveraging Private Business and Finance”
- Deliver a keynote address at the International Business Forum’s policy dialogue on investment in emerging markets
- Participate in key sessions on international cooperation and development-focused debt restructuring
- Speak at a UNICEF-organised event focusing on financing for children and youth
The minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with multilateral institutions, donor agencies, and private investors to discuss potential partnerships, investment opportunities, and concessional financing options to support Pakistan’s economic development.
Officials from the Finance Division stated that Pakistan’s participation aims to strengthen the country’s engagement with international financial institutions and promote sustainable, inclusive economic growth through innovative financial tools.
The conference is seen as an opportunity for Pakistan to position itself as a willing and capable partner in global development finance, amid growing economic challenges at home and increasing emphasis on private sector engagement in public policy implementation.
