Riyadh — In a significant gesture underscoring the depth of Pakistan–Saudi Arabia strategic ties, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has been awarded the prestigious King Abdulaziz Medal (Excellent Class) for his outstanding efforts to advance bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
The high-level honour was conferred during an official ceremony in the Saudi capital by Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The award recognises Field Marshal Munir’s pivotal role in enhancing defence collaboration, strategic coordination and institutional engagement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
During the ceremony, Prince Khalid bin Salman congratulated Field Marshal Munir on his leadership and contributions, noting the historic and time-tested relationship between the two countries. Both sides exchanged views on regional security, defence cooperation and shared priorities, reaffirming their commitment to peace and stability across the region.
Senior military and diplomatic officials from both countries were present at the event, reflecting the importance attached to the bilateral partnership.
