RIYADH – Saudi Arabia — Pakistan’s rising female boxer Fatima Zahra has secured the nation’s first medal at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games after a dominant performance in the Women’s 60 kg quarter-finals in Riyadh.
The 21-year-old from Sargodha delivered a flawless display, defeating her Algerian opponent by a unanimous 5-0 decision to advance to the semi-finals, thereby guaranteeing at least a bronze medal. In doing so, she etched her name into history as Pakistan’s first confirmed podium finisher at the multi-nation event.
A national champion since 2018, Zahra has steadily risen through Pakistan’s boxing ranks and now finds herself on the international stage with a strong statement victory. Her performance has ignited hopes that more medals may follow from the country’s broader contingent competing in the Games.
