OXFORD – Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has unveiled an aggressive new immigration strategy known as “Operation Restoring Justice,” aimed at detaining and deporting all individuals who enter the United Kingdom illegally via small boats.
Speaking at Oxford Airport, Farage described illegal migration as a threat to “public order” and vowed to rid the country of what he termed an ongoing invasion. Under the plan, everyone arriving unlawfully—including women and children—would be immediately arrested, held in detention facilities, and deported. Farage further pledged that any attempt to claim asylum would be rejected outright.
To enable this, he proposed that the UK exit key human rights treaties such as the European Convention on Human Rights and repeal the Human Rights Act. Other international agreements, including the 1951 Refugee Convention, the UN Convention Against Torture, and anti-trafficking protocols, would also be discarded to streamline deportations.
Farage’s plan includes building detention facilities capable of housing tens of thousands, possibly on disused military bases, and operating up to five deportation flights per day. He targets deporting up to 600,000 asylum seekers during the next parliamentary term, funded in part by incentives offered for voluntary returns.
Legal experts have warned that these sweeping measures could undermine the UK’s rule of law and damage international relations. Critics argue the plan is logistically impractical and morally fraught, while supporters view it as a necessary measure to regain control of the border.
