OXFORD, UK – British actress Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series, has been banned from driving for six months after multiple speeding violations. Watson, currently enrolled in a master’s programme in Oxford, was clocked at 38mph in a 30mph zone on July 31, 2024.
She did not appear for the hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court, but the court imposed a £1,044 fine and added penalty points that brought her total to 12 — the threshold for an automatic ban under UK traffic laws.
The speeding incident, one of several over the last two years, now places Watson among a number of British celebrities penalised for traffic offences. On the same day, fellow Harry Potter actor Zoë Wanamaker also received a six-month driving ban for similar violations.
