SWEDEN – Reigning pole vault world champion Armand Duplantis has expressed confidence ahead of the delayed 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, stating that the late September schedule does not concern him and may even play to his strengths.
Speaking before a major international meet in Monaco, Duplantis said he typically improves as the season progresses and is mentally prepared to peak later than usual. The Swedish athlete, known for his precision and consistency, emphasized that the new timing will not disrupt his performance trajectory.
Duplantis, who holds the world record in pole vaulting, revealed plans to take a four-week break following his current competition circuit before resuming preparations for Tokyo. He highlighted the importance of maintaining rhythm and technique, saying that the unique nature of pole vaulting demands both physical and psychological alignment.
With multiple Diamond League victories to his name and a history of breaking barriers in the sport, Duplantis remains focused on refining his form and capitalizing on favourable conditions. He believes that when everything clicks, surpassing his own records is always within reach.
