RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The city is once again under the grip of dengue fever as 10 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, raising the tally of this season to 188 patients. The spike is alarming, especially when compared to the 120 cases reported during the same period last year, signaling a troubling upward trend.
According to health officials, the new patients have been identified from various localities including Kotha Kalan, Rehmatabad, Khana Dak, Lakhan, Takht Pari, Kalyal, Dhoke Hassu, New Parrian, Satellite Town Block F, and Dhamial. The spread across multiple neighborhoods has further deepened concerns, showing how the virus is now affecting both urban and semi-urban zones.
Hospitals in Rawalpindi continue to receive patients daily, with three major government facilities accommodating the fresh cases. The district administration and health teams have intensified anti-dengue operations, focusing on eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, spraying in high-risk areas, and launching awareness campaigns.
Officials have strongly emphasized that despite government measures, public cooperation remains the key. Citizens are being urged to keep their surroundings clean, avoid stagnant water, and ensure proper waste disposal to help curb the spread of the virus.
The rising numbers highlight that dengue remains an escalating health challenge, and if preventive steps are not strictly observed, the city may face a much larger outbreak in the coming weeks.
