ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan has “effective armed forces” and is fully capable of safeguarding its national security, stressing that any decision regarding joining a possible united Muslim front against Israel will be taken with utmost responsibility and deliberation.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Dar highlighted that Pakistan’s military strength remains a source of confidence, but foreign policy decisions of such magnitude require thorough consultation between the government, armed forces, and relevant state institutions. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause while maintaining that the country’s leadership would carefully assess all implications before committing to collective action.
Dar added that while the suffering of Palestinians is a grave concern for Pakistan and the Muslim world, Islamabad’s approach must remain pragmatic. He explained that Pakistan’s foreign policy is guided by solidarity with oppressed nations, yet balanced by national interest and regional stability. “We stand with the people of Palestine, but decisions of this scale are not emotional; they are strategic,” he remarked.
Analysts believe his statement reflects Islamabad’s cautious but firm stance: Pakistan stands in alignment with Muslim countries seeking to respond to Israel’s aggression, but remains mindful of the broader consequences of direct involvement. For now, Pakistan continues to push for diplomatic engagement, humanitarian relief, and political solutions at international forums.
Dar’s remarks send a clear message: Pakistan will not shy away from supporting the Muslim Ummah, but it will ensure that any step taken is both responsible and sustainable in safeguarding the nation’s future.
