LAHORE, Pakistan – In a sweeping operation coinciding with protests marking the second year of Imran Khan’s imprisonment, police in Lahore detained 212 PTI workers, later releasing 170 and sending 42 to jail on charges of violating Section 144.
Law enforcement conducted multiple raids across the city to preempt public gatherings organized under the Tehreek Tahafuz Aaeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) campaign. Authorities claim the actions were necessary to maintain order, while PTI leadership decried the arrests as political victimisation.
Despite the clampdown, PTI remains defiant, promising to continue peaceful demonstrations demanding the release of their incarcerated leader, Imran Khan.
