LAHORE – A local court in Pakistan on Wednesday ordered the judicial remand of Sher Shah Khan, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, after dismissing police requests for his physical custody.
The court directed that Sher Shah Khan be shifted to Camp Jail Lahore under judicial remand. Police had pressed for his custody to probe alleged involvement in violent incidents linked to political demonstrations, but the request was denied.
Sher Shah had been taken into custody earlier this week on charges of unrest and vandalism. He was presented before the court under heavy security measures.
During the proceedings, prosecutors argued for physical remand to conduct further interrogation. Defense lawyers countered that no substantial evidence was provided to justify the demand. After hearing both sides, the court ruled in favor of judicial custody instead of police remand.
