ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has secured Islamabad’s highest assurances of full cooperation from Chinese partners to bolster agricultural collaboration across the two countries. During a high-level meeting with a senior Chinese delegation, Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, outlined multiple areas of strategic interest, including cotton production, efficient irrigation, seed development, and mechanisation.
Both delegations agreed on the formation of technical working groups tasked with translating strategic vision into measurable progress. These panels will explore joint ventures in modern farming techniques—particularly suitable for arid zones—smart irrigation systems, and high-yield crop varieties. Areas such as Gilgit-Baltistan were highlighted as key testbeds for innovation, given their environmental parallels with China’s Xinjiang region.
Chinese representatives reinforced their commitment by offering investment and institutional support, including cooperation in research exchanges, demonstration farms, and pilot initiatives. The collaboration is being positioned not merely as an agricultural policy but as a vital pillar of the enduring Pakistan–China partnership, with promises of mutual resource-sharing, shared prosperity, and technology transfer.
