LONDON – Former match referee Chris Broad has ignited controversy by accusing the International Cricket Council (ICC) of showing undue leniency toward India. Broad, who served the game for over two decades, revealed that he was once advised by an ICC official to “be lenient… find some time because it’s India” when dealing with slow over-rate penalties.
He further suggested that India’s financial and political influence has shaped the ICC’s decisions, claiming, “India got all the money and have now taken over the ICC in so many ways.”
The statement has stirred debate across the cricketing world, raising serious questions about fairness, governance, and the growing dominance of powerful boards within the sport.
