CAMBODIA–THAILAND – Deadly cross-border shelling continued for a fourth consecutive day, as Thailand and Cambodia struggle to contain escalating hostilities despite repeated ceasefire appeals.
Over 33 lives have been lost—13 civilians and five soldiers in Cambodia, 14 civilians and six personnel in Thailand—while more than 200,000 residents have been forced to flee their homes. Fresh artillery fire was reported across Trat and Pursat provinces, damaging homes, religious sites, and schools.
While both countries have signaled willingness for dialogue—Cambodia backing Malaysia’s mediation and Thailand pushing for bilateral talks—no formal ceasefire has materialized. Even U.S. President Donald Trump has called for restraint and hinted at possible trade repercussions if the violence continues.
The continued conflict raises serious concerns for regional peace, echoing the worst fighting seen in over a decade. As negotiations remain uncertain, thousands remain displaced and vulnerable.
