Nagpur (Monitoring Desk) – An IndiGo flight travelling from Kochi to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing in Nagpur in the early hours of Tuesday following a bomb threat, aviation authorities confirmed.
Flight 6E-2706, which had originated from Muscat and made a stopover in Kochi, was carrying 157 passengers and 6 crew members when the threat was reported. The aircraft was diverted and landed safely at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur at approximately 4:00 AM IST.
Soon after landing, the flight was isolated and all passengers were safely evacuated. Bomb disposal squads and a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) carried out a detailed inspection of the aircraft. Authorities later confirmed that no explosives or suspicious items were found on board, and the threat was declared a false alarm.
“All protocols were strictly followed, and the safety of passengers was ensured throughout the procedure,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.
The incident has prompted a formal investigation by local law enforcement and civil aviation authorities to trace the origin of the threat.
This comes amid rising concerns over aviation security in the region, with officials reiterating the importance of vigilance against hoax threats that disrupt travel and public safety.
