ISLAMABAD – Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has reiterated the government’s commitment to a consultative and inclusive policy-making approach, aimed at promoting transparency, business confidence, and long-term economic stability.
The minister made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council (PBC). Acknowledging the role of the business community in driving economic growth, Aurangzeb emphasized that policies must be shaped through structured dialogue with stakeholders from across the private sector.
He further highlighted the government’s efforts to improve the institutional capacity of economic policymaking. In particular, he pointed to the recent transfer of the Tax Policy Office from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to the Finance Division, calling it a key reform step designed to enhance objectivity and evidence-based decision-making.
Aurangzeb also mentioned that consultations for the upcoming federal budget were initiated earlier than in previous years, allowing more time for engagement with trade bodies, chambers of commerce, and economic experts.
“The government is committed to working alongside the private sector to ensure that national economic policies reflect ground realities, promote investment, and support inclusive growth,” the minister said.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to strengthen channels of communication and explore ways to institutionalize regular consultation on policy matters.
